What Certlog is
Certlog is a tool that helps you keep your own property certificates organised. You upload documents, you enter and confirm the dates, and Certlog shows which certificates are valid, due soon or overdue and gives you a bundle of your files. Certlog is an independent service. It is not run by, or connected to, GOV.UK or any government body.
What Certlog is not
- It does not give legal advice. Landlord legal duties depend on your situation, so check the rules on GOV.UK or with a qualified adviser.
- It does not register your properties or send anything to any government service for you.
- It does not check that a certificate is valid, genuine or issued by someone qualified.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the dates you enter and confirm. Check them against the original certificate. Certlog shows what you tell it.
- If a "Read dates from file" button is offered, it only suggests details, and it can be wrong. It never saves anything on its own. You must check every date against the original certificate before you save it.
- Keep the original certificates. A Certlog bundle is a copy for your records.
- Only upload documents you are entitled to hold, and do not upload anything unlawful or harmful. Do not try to access other people's accounts or disrupt the service.
- Keep your password private. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
Reminders and availability
We aim to keep Certlog available, but we cannot promise it will always work without interruption. Do not rely on Certlog as your only way of tracking a legal deadline.
Certlog emails you as a certificate gets close to its expiry date (about 60, 30, 14 and 7 days before, on the day, and a week after), based on the dates you entered. Reminders are a convenience. An email may be delayed, filtered as spam or not delivered, and it is only as right as the dates you gave us. You can switch reminders off in the dashboard or with the link in every email.
Free and paid plans, and billing
Certlog has a free plan and a paid plan. What each includes is shown in the app. The price, how often you are charged and what you get are shown on Stripe's payment page before you confirm anything.
The paid plan is a subscription. It renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from "Manage billing" in the app. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting your account cancels your subscription straight away.
If you change your mind within 14 days of first subscribing, email hello@certlog.uk and we will refund that payment in full. If you think you have been charged by mistake, email us and we will look into it promptly. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including any right to cancel and to a refund.
Ending your use
You can stop using Certlog and delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deleting your account permanently removes your information and files. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for anything the law does not allow us to limit. Within that, we are not responsible for loss that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of our failure, or for losses that come from a date you entered or confirmed incorrectly, or from a deadline you missed. If we are at fault, our total responsibility to you for the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem.
Changes and law
We may change these terms. We will update this page and tell account holders by email before a significant change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute.
